More Details: Both my husband and I are in love with the city of Charlotte. Not only did it bring us together, but so many of our friends and family live or have roots here. We wanted to celebrate both our commitment to each other and our love of this city, which has provided us with so many blessings.
Both the ceremony and the reception were in Uptown Charlotte. The ceremony was at the historic First Presbyterian Church, followed by the reception a few blocks away at Bentley’s on 27, which boasts one of the best views of the Charlotte skyline from the 27th floor of the Charlotte Plaza Building. Between the ceremony and the reception, the wedding party visited the new Romare Bearden Park near BB&T Ballpark to take pictures, including numerous shots with the skyline.
The tables, escort cars and photo booth printouts were decorated with the Charlotte skyline, and guests were treated to the beautiful view of Charlotte both in daylight and as the sun set into evening. It was a unique look at the city that many of our guests had never seen. We’re still getting compliments for the view, the food and the wonderful celebration throughout the entire day.
My dress was an all-ivory Maggie Sottero Karena Royale. It was one of the first dresses I tried on, and I couldn’t get it out of my mind. It made me feel beautiful. When I returned the following day to try it on again, I didn’t want to take it off. NYB&G owner Tracy Burke and her team of seamstresses helped me find the right sleeves to compliment the dress, since I didn’t want to have a strapless gown.
When it was done, my dress was elegant and sophisticated, just as I pictured for our wedding day. Mike’s first words to me when we were alone was to tell me how beautiful I looked and how much he loved the dress.
