More Details: After waiting almost five years to marry my high school sweetheart, this wedding was so much fun to plan. Our ceremony and reception were both at the same place, which is one of my favorite aspects of the venue. Evening receptions in gigantic, white tents with beautiful lighting make me swoon, and I was thrilled to plan one of my own. Although the Aqueduct Conference Center is just moments away from the heart of Chapel Hill, the winding, gravel driveway and rolling fields make it feel hours away.
One of my favorite moments of the day was our “first look.” We debated about whether or not to do one, but after advice from other brides and our photographer, we decided it would be a special time to spend together before the party began. Since we didn’t write our own vows, this was the perfect chance to read the letters we wrote to each other. It was so much fun to watch Daniel finally see the dress I had talked about for months.
It was Justin Alexander, style 8502 — although it was quite unrecognizable by the wedding. I came into NYB&G with a picture of the dress I wanted, although I knew that specific gown was out of my budget. I instead picked JA8502 and asked the amazing seamstresses to turn it into the dress of my dreams. I know it was no easy task, but they did a wonderful job. The entire bodice was cut and reshaped, the chiffon on the bodice was removed and replaced with lace I purchased at a fabric store, and cap sleeves were added. The final product was perfect.
Another wonderful part of our wedding was spending the time with our incredible wedding party. With 11 bridesmaids and 11 groomsmen, it was quite a party indeed. Prior to the big day we received a fair amount of skepticism about our wedding party being the size of a small football team. But, being surrounded by so many friends on that day is an aspect I will never regret!
