More Details: My husband and I had the same goals for our wedding and ceremony. We wanted all of our family and friends (including ourselves, of course) to have a genuinely great time. We built a house at the same time as we planned our wedding, so that kept us grounded as far as the spending went.

He was raised Catholic, as well as the majority of his family, so we got married at the Catholic Church he was a member of in our hometown of Lake Wylie, SC. Our reception was just 15 minutes away at 10 Catawba in Belmont, NC. 10 Catawba used to be a Kimbrell’s Furniture that was redesigned into a premier event space featuring a large, open ballroom with a wine/bourbon bar attached. My husband is a huge fan of bourbon, which hit home for him when we were searching for our reception venue. We kept it pretty simple as far as decor went and accented the space’s existing character.

We had an absolute blast and actually sat down and ate dinner together. Our caterer, Visions, delivered an outstanding buffet-style dinner, and our photographer, Michael Board, and his wife Jennifer were phenomenal. Our cake from Jenn’s Sugarlicious Bakery was delicious as well. We got countless compliments on how tasty it was.

I absolutely loved my dress. It was, first of all, reasonably priced and second, extremely comfortable. It flattered my body type and I knew it was “the one” the second I put it on. The back was sexy yet conservative, perfect for a ceremony held in a Catholic Church. The train was simple enough to bustle for our rustic-ish ceremony. New York Bride & Groom made me a custom veil using the lace from my mother’s veil. It was incredibly special.

There were too many funny moments to name throughout the day, and we have thoroughly loved looking through our photos and reliving those moments. The speeches that my brother, his brother, and my maid of honor delivered were extremely special to us, and we will remember things that they said forever. We will cherish the time spent with our friends and family on our Special Day for the rest of our lives.
